Andrew Stephens ran for a pair of scores and passed for another as Lawson rolled to a 41-6 win against North Platte on Friday, Sept. 27.
The loss drops North Platte to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in KCI Conference play.
The Cardinals (4-1, 3-0) took a 41-0 lead before the game was temporarily delayed due to lighting in the third quarter.
When play resumed, the Panthers scored their only touchdown on a three-yard run by Andrew Hernandez. The quarterback ran for 135 yards and passed for 54 for North Platte.
Lawson ran for five touchdowns in the victory, its fourth straight.
Stephens had a 19-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 5-yard score in the second quarter. Zach Marquez also ran for two touchdowns for the Cardinals, a 33-yard run in the second and a 6-yard run in the third quarter.
That sent the game into turbo clock mode before the lightning delay with 9 minutes to play in the quarter.
Lawson went up 14-0 in the first quarter and led 35-0 at halftime. Stephens had a 12-yard touchdown pass to Cade Campbell in the second quarter, while Cade Killingsworth had a 1-yard run in the first quarter.
Will Koontz led North Platte with seven tackles, one more than Joel Smyser had. Caine Huffman had five tackles and two tackles for loss. Zach Beatty hauled in an interception for North Platte.
