The Park Hill South softball team (14-12) won three of its four contests in the Springfield Fast-Pitch Invitational on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2.
The Panthers scored double digits in each of their three victories, starting off with an 11-2 win over Glendale (14-8). Park Hill South’s only loss on the weekend was in its next game against Webb City (13-10).
The Panther offense wasn’t as dynamic as the other games in the tournament as Park Hill South only scored four runs. The Panthers put up a fight, but were unable to pull out the win as they lost 5-4.
Park Hill South finished the tournament with back-to-back victories on Oct. 2. The Panthers defeated Bolivar (8-17) 11-2 before taking down Fatima (17-5) 10-2.
Park Hill South kept the winning streak going when it left the tournament and took on Oak Park on Oct. 4. The Panthers defeated the Northmen 4-1 and they will look to continue the strong play heading into districts.
Park Hill South’s next contest will be against North Kansas City on Oct. 7. That will be the Panthers’ final regular season game of 2021 before the Class 5 District 8 Tournament.
