Panthers finish in fifth place, multiple Trojans break PR's

The Park Hill girls’ cross-country team had five runners break or tie their personal best times and the Park Hill South girls ended in fifth place at the Lee’s Summit Kris Solsberg Invitational on Sept. 18.

Park Hill South ended with 134 points, the same amount as fourth place Blue Springs South, but the Panthers had a two second slower average and finished in fifth place. The Trojans ended the race in seventh place overall out of 14 teams with 219 points.

Fifth place finisher Natalie Gerdes led the Trojans team. The sophomore ran the 5k in her fastest career time of 19:29.

Jordan Umstattd tied her personal best time when she crossed the finish line in 28th place with a time of 20:43.

Abby Stevens ended next for Park Hill at 21:32, earning herself 45th place.

Ava Sullivan, Reagan Kastner and Anna Higgs were the next three Trojans to finish the race. All three Park Hill runners ended with personal best times.

For Park Hill South, sophomore Lauren Bishard ended in tenth place overall when the sophomore finished at 19:37. Ella Conklin finished in 22nd place with a time of 20:30.

Kayla Richardson crossed the finish line at 34th place at 21:06 and Mia James ended in 36th place with a time of 21:07. Mackenzie Wright, Abigail Kinred and Shea Worley wrapped up the race for the Panthers to clench the fifth place finish.
