The Park Hill South boys and the Park Hill girls are top seeds in the upcoming Class 5 District 16 basketball tournament at Oak Park High School in Kansas City.
The Panthers are the favorite to repeat as the boys champion based on the No. 1 seed but are in the same district as Staley.
Both teams had an 18-6 record at the time of the seeding meeting and both are currently ranked in the top 10 in Class 5 in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association poll.
Park Hill South will play at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, against the winner of St. Joseph Central/Oak Park.
The other semifinal has Staley facing Park Hill at 7 p.m. on March 3.
The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, March 6.
The Park Hill girls are the top seed and will play either Staley or Park Hill South at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 2.
The Staley/Park Hill South game is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29.
The bottom half of the bracket has St. Joseph Central and Oak Park.
The championship game will be held 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. The Park Hill South girls are the defending district champions.
Class 4 District 16
Both Platte County teams are the No. 4 seeds in the upcoming district tournament at Kearney.
The boys open with a game against Smithville on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 6:15 p.m. Earlier that day, the Platte County girls play Savannah at 4:30 p.m.
If either team wins, they will play Kearney in the semifinals.
The boys would play Kearney at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. The Bulldogs beat the Pirates twice this season, including a dramatic triple overtime game in Kearney.
The girls would draw the Kearney girls, ranked No. 4 in the MBCA poll and the Suburban Conference Blue Division champions. That semifinal game would be at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Kearney swept Platte County this year and have won the past 18 against the Pirates, dating back to 2012.
The championship game for both divisions will be on Friday, March 6, with the girls game at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m.
