Peterson brothers headed to Park

Park University is getting two standout players from Platte County, one out of high school and another a transfer, but both from the same family.

Chase Peterson, who signed his letter of intent to play with Park University but after the ceremony at Platte County High School’s Wilson Auditorium, said it was a package deal.

Not only is Park adding Peterson, coming off helping the Pirates finish as the Class 3 runners-up last fall, they will add his older brother Chandler Peterson.

The elder Peterson is the school’s all-time scoring leader and most recently has played at Rockhurst University.

The two played together for two years at PCHS and now will get a chance to do it at Park.

Chandler Peterson left Platte County with 177 goals, second all-time in the MSHSAA record books and his 76 goals his senior season set the bar for scoring prowess.

At the time of his signing in 2018, Chandler Peterson told The Citizen he hoped that Chase would join him at Rockhurst.

Instead, the two will become teammates again as Pirates.

Chase Peterson was a second-team all-state pick at forward for Platte County this past fall.

“I know some of the coaches (at Park) and my brother pushed me to go there because that is where he will play soccer,” Chase Peterson said. “It was pretty easy for me. I just wanted to play with my brother. That is basically why I picked Park.”

The midfielder will have two years left to play with Chandler.
