The Platte County Pirates’ football team moved its record to 8-0 with a 55-14 road thumping of Ruskin on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Pirates outgained Ruskin 386 yards to only 200 yards of offense for Ruskin. Platte County scored six rushing touchdowns, which included two by junior quarterback Rocco Marriott, who also completed 11 of 14 passes for 227 yards and two scores.
Senior Dayton Doll led the rushing attack with 56 yards on eight carries and a score. Zach Burch carried the ball three times for 36 yards and a touchdown. Senior Adam Gisler toted the ball seven times for 31 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Seymour also scored a rushing touchdown.
Tres Baskerville was a nightmare for the Ruskin defense, especially in the first quarter. Baskerville had six receptions for 157 yards, which included a 63-yard touchdown. Ty Christopher had three catches for 52 yards, and Brayden Stevens had a touchdown reception. Trevor Hay had two interceptions for the defense.
The Pirates will end the regular season this Friday at home versus a 5-3 Raytown team. If the Pirates win, they will earn a bye in the district bracket. If Platte County loses, it opens the door for St. Pius X to grab the top spot. St. Pius X is 7-1 on the season.
