Pirates youth football teams go 3-2 at KCFC finals

Platte County Youth Football League wrapped up the season with a 3-2 mark in the championship games at the Kansas City Football and Cheerleading finals on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Heritage Park Football Complex in Olathe, Kan. 

The third-grade team won 20-6 over Liberty North in the Gold bracket. The week prior, Platte County won 26-0 against Blue Valley Southwest.

The fourth grade team also made the Gold bracket finals but lost 18-0 to Olathe South. To reach the finals, Platte County beat Savannah, 40-8.

Platte County got a win in the Silver bracket finals, 36-8, against Liberty’s fifth graders. The Pirates won 34-12 against Olathe South to move into the finals. 

The final win for Platte County came in the sixth-grade game, winning 26-6 against Olathe South in the Gold bracket. The sixth graders rolled up a total of 64 points in the two wins, the latter coming against Blue Valley North.

The seventh grade team lost a heartbreaker, 9-8, in the Gold bracket finals against Blue Valley Northwest, which kicked a 25-yard field goal in the final seconds.

Platte County beat St. Joseph, 32-12, in the semifinals.
