The Platte City Area Chamber of Commerce hopes a new event will help promote and educate citizens about businesses and organizations in Platte City.
Scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, “Sample the City” replaces Ladies Night Out and seeks to appeal to a larger audience at a big Main Street event. The chamber hopes attendees learn more about what Platte City offers while also experiencing some of the businesses first hand.
Admission is free, and bounce houses and “The Reading Rocket” from Mid-Continent Public Library will be there to offer entertainment for kids. There will also be live music.
Five food trucks from the Kansas City area will also be on hand (Taste of Brazil, Cheesy Pops, The Waffler, The Ice Cream Parlor and Slaters Pizza). Local wine venue, Jowler Creek, will sell their wine, as well.
The Pool Hall on Main Street will be selling beverages.
The chamber said 62 vendors will be on hand, but also businesses on Main Street and the nearby Ben Ferrel Museum will also be open. Sample The City is also partnering with the Treasure Chest donation organization of the Platte County R-3 School District and will be taking donations to help local Platte City and Platte City area residents and children in need.
