Platte City man arrested for DWI following crash

A Platte City man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in an accident that injured two people on Saturday, Aug. 10 on Interstate 435 in Platte County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2008 Ford F150 driven by Logan K. Kingery, 23, of Platte City, was going northbound when it struck right rear of a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Stacy W. Leonard, 46, of Kansas City.

Both vehicles traveled into the median at mile marker 27.

Leonard’s SUV crossed into the southbound lane of Interstate 435. It overturned, before leaving the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Injured in the accident were Leonard and her passenger, Christian G. Leonard, 21. Stacy Leonard had moderate injuries and Christian Leonard, a Parkville resident, sustained minor injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital.

About an hour after the accident, Kingery was arrested for driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, careless and imprudent driving and driving without insurance.

He was transported to the Platte County Detention Center. As of Tuesday, Aug. 13, he was not in custody in Platte City.

MSHP Arrests

Sean M. Johnson, 36, of Kansas City, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive within a single lane in Platte County on Aug. 10.

Jeremy D. Phelps, 32, of Kansas City, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and a felony warrant from Platte County on Aug. 9 in Platte County.

Gavin J. Moreno, 18, of Independence, Mo., was arrested for possession of stolen property on Aug. 14 in Platte County. 

Crystal A. Peoples, 33, of Claycomo, was arrested for a felony warrant from Clay County and a felony probation and parole warrant in Platte County on Aug. 15.
