Platte City police last week apprehended a suspect in a North Kansas City homicide investigation.
According to a statement issued by police, Platte City officers were dispatched to the probation and parole office on Branch Street Thursday, Dec. 5 to take a suspect into custody in relation to a murder investigation.
The suspect – who had not been charged in Platte County as of press time – fled the building and attempted to enter a vehicle in the parking lot. Police believe the suspect knew the occupants of the vehicle. The suspect was subdued with a taser and taken into custody.
During the scuffle, another man fled the vehicle and ran toward Interstate 29. He was apprehended by a Missouri Highway Patrol officer, who discovered the suspect was armed with a loaded handgun.
The female driver of the vehicle was also taken into custody and the vehicle was searched. Inside, police found another loaded handgun, brass knuckles and potentially stolen property.
According to police, the first male party is being held on a no-bond parole violation for unlawful use of a weapon and drug charges; the second male party is being held on a no-bond parole violation for domestic assault; and the female party is being held on a $50,000 cash-only probation violation for theft of a firearm and larceny.
This investigation is currently ongoing.
