A former law enforcement officer remains out on bond after he was accused of possession of child pornography in Platte City in July.
Roger Ogden, 49, of Platte City, was charged in July with one count of possession of child pornography. While initially Ogden’s bond was set at $25,000 cash-only, it was later modified to allow 10 percent posting. Ogden bonded out shortly after and late last month was allowed to use a work computer for work purposes only. He is due back in court in October before Judge Ann Hansbrough. Under conditions of his bond, Ogden surrendered his passport and was prohibited from contact with anyone under 18. A mental health evaluation was also scheduled.
According to court documents, a witness notified police on July 11 that he or she had seen child pornography on Ogden’s personal computer, at his home off Timber Park Drive in Platte City. Afraid Ogden would delete the images if confronted, the witness took photographs of it with a cell phone and went to police. The images showed naked children, many on beaches, and what appeared to be a girl under the age of 10 engaged in a sexual activity.
As a former law enforcement officer, police were concerned that Ogden had access to firearms and extensive training, making him potentially dangerous. Additionally, the witness reported he had said he would kill himself before he went to prison.
