Platte County collects postseason honors after state run

En route to finishing third place in all of Class 4, the entire starting lineup – plus one player off the bench – for the Platte County volleyball team finished the fall with honors.

Platte County junior Tatianna Murray made the all-district first team and all-conference second team this season.

Karsyn Stehlik, Kendall Johnson and Karlee Riggs led the Lady Pirates all year as the trio finished as all-state players. Stehlik and Johnson were on the Kansas City Suburban Conference White Division First Team, along with the first team in the Class 4 District 8 Tournament, while Riggs was on the all-conference and all-district second teams.

Stehlik finished her senior campaign with 261 kills on a 33.7 percent rate, 22 aces on a 12.6 percent rate, 106 digs and 149 receptions. In districts, the senior had 32 kills, 11 digs, seven receptions and one block.

Johnson wrapped up the fall with 232 digs, 69 blocks and 41 aces, along with a team-high 307 kills and 429 receptions. Riggs had 265 kills, 53 digs and 29 blocks in her sophomore season.

Tatianna Murray posted 187 kills, 93 digs and 89 blocks to earn a spot on the all-district first team and all-conference second team. Junior Emma Harned erupted for a team-high 325 digs and 927 assists – 801 more than the next Lady Pirate – along with 78 kills and 48 aces to be put on the second team in the White Division and the first team in the Class 4 District 8 Tournament.

Jenna Wheeler had 31 digs, 29 receptions, five aces and five assists in the Class 4 District 8 Tournament to make the second team. Senior Madison Hoyt was a White Division Honorable Mention and Class 4 District 8 Honorable Mention after wrapping up her career with 127 kills and a team-high 104 blocks this fall.
