Platte County has hired a new county attorney, along with an assistant attorney, to take the place of recently retired veteran county attorney Bob Shaw.
Commissioners met Monday, Nov. 6 at the Platte County Administration Center in Platte City for their regular administrative session. The agreement for services with Rob Redman, county counselor, and Kelly Tobin, assistant county counselor, both of Martinez, Tobin and Redman LLC of North Kansas City, was approved without comment from commissioners. Redman and Tobin’s fee for services is $300 per hour.
Redman received his bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1995 and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in 1998. Tobin received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1986 and a juris doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in 1989. Their firm handles business law, real estate and commercial litigation.
Also at the meeting, commissioners approved a program agreement for the replacement of the South Crooked Road bridge with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The bridge, located in the Parkville Special Road District, will cost more than $725,000 and is slated for construction in 2025. The county will be forced to fund the project up front but will receive 80 percent back through various federal programs. The remaining 20 percent will be reimbursed through other programs.
