A Platte County High School senior was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday, Jan. 27, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
The department issued a release on Sunday, Jan. 28, saying Luke Hogue, 17, was killed in an accident in the 10800 block of Route N in Platte County at 11:40 p.m.
The Plate County R-3 School District issued a release following the death.
“The Platte County R-3 School District is grieving over the loss of Platte County High School senior, Luke Hogue, who died from a fatal vehicle accident this weekend. Our thoughts are with the Hogue family during this difficult time.”
Additional counselors, social workers and staff were made available for support for students and staff at PCHS this week.
The First Baptist Church of Platte City will host Hogue’s visitation from 2:30-4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5. A celebration of life will be from 4-5 p.m.
Hogue was traveling northbound when his vehicle left the road and collided with a tree. Alcohol is not believed to be involved in the crash but PCSO believes Hogue was traveling at a high rate of speed.
