The 57th annual Platte County Steam and Gas Show will be held Aug. 10-12 at the Platte County Fairgrounds.
The event will start with a cruise starting at 8:30 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 9. The event will leave the Fairgrounds from the south gate and go left on Hwy 92, taking a left on Second Street in Platte City and then a right on Main Street. After going on Route HH, a right on Farmer Lane will be followed by a break at the Pumpkin Etc.
The drivers will leave the farm and head toward Route B, Route KK and Highway 169, southbound to stop at Grace Church for lunch. Another break will occur in Camden Point, before heading back to the fairgrounds. All told, it will be a 42-mile trip, according to Alan Goodwin, the cruise chairman.
A parade of equipment will start at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10. A fish fry at 5 p.m. and a tractor pull at 6:30 p.m. will round out the first day of activities.
On Saturday, Aug. 11, the kids pedal pull and bingo will start at 9:30 a.m. A parade of equipment will happen at 1 p.m. and a kids tractor drive in the horse arena starts at 2 p.m. The antique and classic tractor pull will start at 4 p.m. Dinner at 5 p.m. will conclude the second day.
Sunday starts with two events at 9 a.m. — a horse show and a church service. A stock garden tractor pull is slated to start at 10 a.m. and a parade of equipment at 1 p.m. A kids tractor drive at 2 p.m. will round out the events.
The cost is $5 per person, while kids 15 and under are free. Sunday will be free entry with a donation.
