The Park Hill School District recently launched its Park Hill 2034 long-range plan and has scheduled two public meetings next month to allow patron input.
An online patron survey is still open at surveymonkey.com/r/PHSD-LRP-CS to amass public feedback. The district is preparing to move into the next phase of its long-range planning process and as such will host a meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at the Park Hill High School library and from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Park Hill South High School library.
The board of education also recently heard an update on bond projects funded through the April 2022 ballot propositions. Construction is under way on an addition and other improvements to the Russell Jones Education Center and ground will be broken on improvements to Park Hill and Park Hill South high schools later this fall. Work will also begin later this fall on the district’s 12th elementary school, which will be located in western Parkville.
Also at the meeting, the board was updated on LEAD Innovation Studio parent information nights. All eighth graders in Park Hill can choose to attend their traditional high school, or LEAD.
LEAD is based on three pillars: project-based learning, self-directed learning and mentorship. The program has yielded high student achievement scores and high parent and student approval ratings through the district’s Panorama Survey.
The school is hosting three parent information nights to share its story with eighth grade parents. The first parent night is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. Parents will hear from LEAD students, teachers and administrators and tour the building. The other information nights are Wednesday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024.
