Show offers more than guns

The St. Joseph Gun & Knife Show will not only offer attendees the opportunity to view guns and ammunition from dealers that have come from six states, a Big Buck Contest will also be featured.

Guests are invited to bring their mounts of their prize bucks harvested in the fall, 2021 season. The winners will receive cash prizes and awarded for first, second and third place in categories including: Youth Typical and Non-Typical, both archery and rifle, and Adult Typical and Non-Typical, both archery and rifle.

There is no fee to enter the contest and every participant also receives free show admission. Entries must be brought to the show by noon on Saturday, Feb. 26. Judging will take place in the afternoon on that day.

The gun and knife show will be Feb. 26 and Feb. 27 at the Civic Arena in St. Joseph. There will be more than 250 tables of guns and ammunition on the main floor.

“In addition to the Big Buck Contest, the February Show will also feature a fun axe throwing exhibit with TimbearCats Axe Throwing from Maryville,” Kevin Hummer, show promoter, said. “Axe throwing sounds and looks a little crazy, but it is fun to watch and even more fun to participate!”

The show will offer everything necessary to meet the needs of hunters and collectors. Hundreds of tables will be full of new and old guns, knives, ammo, gun parts, reloading supplies, holsters and other related products at discounted prices, including the AR-15.

Attendees will also have a chance to enter to win an Osprey Scope.

With public interest in gun ownership still on the rise, the event brings together gun enthusiasts, as well as people looking for protection. For women who are looking for ways to be well-armed, the St. Joe Gun & Knife Show is a one-stop shop for self-defense products and home protection. The show will offer unique, specially designed conceal and carry purses, as well as lipstick knives, personal alarms, stun guns and more.

“At the show we have companies like, Be Safe Girl, which is all products to help women feel safe like small concealed pepper sprays, noise makers and other items like small hand guns that will be available,” Hummer said. “Our sponsor, Brothers Firearms, specializes in training women on helping them use guns and get their conceal and carry permits. Where ammo was difficult to get a few months ago, it is now out there for people to buy.”

The public is also invited to bring their guns and trade with the dealers for the gun they have always wanted.

The exhibitors and staff at the gun show will help consumers find the right product for each individual from a large selection at discounted prices.

For those who are interested in selling or swapping a gun, law enforcement will be at the entrance of the Civic Arena inspecting those weapons as consumers enter the building.

The show will be Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
