Dearborn resident will soon have a better idea when a water bill increase will go into effect.
Dearborn board of aldermen decided it will send out a mail notification to residents with this month’s bill as a heads up for the impending bill increases. Following the mailing notifications, the increased charges will be set to go into effect Dec. 17, with residents receiving their first bill with the “significant increase” Jan. 17, 2020.
Additionally, the board members further discussed plans to enlarge city hall, this time going as far as presenting a sketch that detailed some of the major changes.
As previously reported, it looks like the new-and-improved city hall would essentially just be a double-sized version of the current building. However, the council board made it clear that the diagram was nothing more than a way to communicate ideas and is not at all final. As time progresses, more information will be discussed in future Dearborn board meetings.
Going forward when community members sign the Dearborn Community Center rental agreement, they will be made aware of the new tobacco and vape policy. The change simply states that tobacco and vape usage will be prohibited and approved on with three yes votes and one no.
Public works and the Platte County Sheriff’s Office had no serious issues to report, with a public works representative saying “all is good.”
Many Dearborn citizens took the time to express concerns and complaints during the evening, with a few people calling for a more involved board.
