Both Park Hill and Park Hill South had runners on the girls’ and guys’ teams that finished in the Top 5 at the KC Suburban Conference Red Division Championships on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Jesse James Park in Kearney.
In the guys’ race, South’s Thomas Garrett was the best runner from the local schools with a third-place finish and a time of 16:13.2, followed by teammate Benedict Yager, who finished sixth with a time of 16:31.2.
Jakob Johnston was the best runner for the Trojans, finishing eighth with a time of 16:46.4. Also finishing in the Top 15 was South runner Grant Windmeyer, who finished ninth with a time of 16:56.2, followed by Park Hill runner John Mattivi, who finished 10th with a time of 16:56.4. South runner Cole James finished 11th with a time of 17:01.6 followed by Trojans’ runner Colton Hardy who finished 13th with a time of 17:09.9 and South runner David Meyer who finished 14th with a time of 17:10.8.
In the team competition, South finished second, with the Trojans right behind them in third place. Also finishing the race were Park Hill senior Nathan Chen, who finished 17th with a time of 17:35.4, followed by Park Hill runner Hudson Huff, who finished 22nd with a time of 18:15.8, and South runner Justin O’Brien, who finished 23rd with a time of 18:16.6. South junior Simon Ketter finished with a time of 18:26, Park Hill runner Robby Hannah-White finished with a time of 18:44.6 and Park Hill runner Noah Jackman finished with a time of 20:20.1.
On the girls’ side, South runner Madilynn Conklin finished runner-up to lead the Panthers to a team second-place finish. Conklin ran a time of 18:58.6, followed by teammate Zoe Flook, who finished eighth with a time of 20:51.9, senior Emilia Sinclair, who finished 13th with a time of 21:31.9, senior Macy Strobel, who finished 17th with a time of 22:04.6, senior Megan Humiston who finished 23rd with a time of 23:05.8, and sophomore Kayla Marshall who finished 26th with a time of 23:35.
Junior Annie Chambers was the best runner for Park Hill, finishing 28th with a time of 24:08.2, followed by freshman Krischen Kennaley who finished 29th with a time of 24:26.3, sophomore Stella Grothaus with a time of 24:35.9, junior Sidney Hendrix with a time of 24:58.4, senior Zamara Cuadra with a time of 25:12.1, sophomore Annabelle Stapleton with a time of 25:45.5, and junior Kate Hance with a time of 26:01.3.
