Body pulled from Missouri River

A Wichita man’s body was recovered inside a vehicle submerged in the Missouri River at Parkville on Thursday, Oct. 24.

A kayaker discovered a submerged vehicle near the boat ramp in Platte Landing Park Thursday afternoon. Parkville police responded to the scene and the vehicle was recovered. Police said the vehicle did not seem to have been submerged for very long.

Monday, the man was identified as 81-year-old Felix Cruz of Wichita, Kan. Surveillance video shows the minivan entering downtown Parkville, traveling slowly, in the early morning hours.

English and Platte Landing parks were closed during the initial investigation.
