Many children and their parents got a chance to see how everyday life in the Midwest was at the annual Platte County Steam Engine Show.
The show was held last Friday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 11, that also featured a 37-mile tractor ride that preceded the show last Thursday, Aug. 8. The show allowed kids to get an up close view of old time tractors and other equipment used on the farm. Much of the equipment was demonstrated including a large saw used to take logs down to boards.
The show featured machines and tractors from brands that rose to prominence during the late nineteenth century but faded out during the Great Depression or soon after like Avery, Stover and A.D. Baker. There were also machines from companies that have stood the test of time like Ford and Case.
