SUBURBAN BASEBALL: Platte County stays unbeaten in Blue Division play

Jared Wilson and Grant Carver threw a three-hit 7-0 shutout Thursday, April 13 in Belton, Mo. to move Platte County to 5-0 in Suburban Conference Blue Division play.

Starting for Platte County and working four innings, Wilson allowed all three hits but struck out seven, and Carver walked one and struck out five in three innings. The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the first and then pulled away with three in the fourth.

Colton Horn singled and scored on Justin Mitchell’s single in the first.

In the fourth, Dillon Doll hit a one-out double and moved to third on Wilson’s single. Kobe Cummings, the Pirates’ leadoff hitter, then belted a two-run double, and he scored on an error.
Wilson doubled in a run in the seventh and scored on Cummings’ single. Cummings went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Platte County 13, Raytown South 3

The Pirates scored a walkoff win in Blue Division play, plating five runs in the bottom of the sixth on Wednesday, April 12 at Platte County High School.

Carter Nugent, a senior outfielder, started the rally with an RBI double to score Drew Parmeley, who reached on an error. Raytown South then committed a two-run error before Jared Wilson made it 12-3 with an RBI groundout for the inning’s second out.

Cummings (hit by pitch) and Horn (walk) then reached to load the bases, and Mitchell brought in the winning run with a single.

Doll walked three times and scored three runs, while Parmeley, a senior designated hitter, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first — his second home run of the season — after Mitchell walked in front of him.

Platte County held leads of 5-0 and 7-1 before entering the bottom of the sixth up 8-3. Glen Gammill, Colby Sneed, Dalton Reichers and Ethan Esdohr all pitched for the Pirates, allowing four hits and five walks.

Raymore-Peculiar 16, Park Hill 3, 6 innings

The Trojans’ eight-game winning streak came to an end in Gold Division play Wednesday, April 12 at Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Mo.

Raymore-Peculiar scored 10 runs in the first two innings against Park Hill starter Cody Hall, and the Trojans allowed 13 total unearned runs, committing six errors. They closed within 10-2 in the bottom of the second and within 12-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

Tyler Watson went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Liam Henry was 2-for-4 with a run batted in for Park Hill, which had six hits — all singles.

Liberty 6, Park Hill South 3

The Panthers’ losing streak hit six in a row in Suburban Conference Red Division play Tuesday, April 11 at Park Hill South High School in Riverside, Mo.

Park Hill South led 2-1 after Jack Beuerlein’s two-run single in the bottom of the second plated two unearned runs. The lead expanded to 3-1 with Beuerlein’s RBI single in the fourth.

Liberty tied it with two runs in the fifth then added one in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Park Hill South dropped to 1-4 in Red Division play with the loss.
