Platte County closed out the regular season with a two-hit shutout by Emma Koeneke against Winnetonka, 6-0, in a Suburban Conference Blue Division victory on Thursday, Oct. 4 in Platte City, Mo.
Koeneke struck out seven in the seven-inning victory.
Grace Heater smacked a 2-run double in the first off Griffins’ starting pitcher MaKiah Embrey (6 IP, 11 H, 6 R) and the Pirates never-looked back adding runs in the third, fourth and fifth.
Stephanie Carroll (3-for-4), Paige Rocha (2-for-4, RBI), Shayla Kohler (2-for-4, RBI) and Madison Carter (2-for-3, RBI) led the Pirates offensive charge.

Park Hill 1, 10 innings
The Titans and Panthers battled deep into the night, but it was the Titans who emerged victorious after plating a pair on Trojans starting pitcher Kaylyn Jones (10 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 8 K) in the 10th in a Suburban Conference Gold Division game on Thursday, Oct. 4 in Kansas City, Mo.
The Titans opened the 10th with a walk by Vahle and she would come around to score on Maddie Harris’ RBI single. Carson Staponski followed behind with the insurance-run giving the Titans a 3-1 lead. Missouri commit Jordan Weber (10 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 14 K) retired the Trojans in order for the win.
Kali Day had pair of hits for the Trojans, while Alexa Lashbrook had the lone RBI with a solo home run in the fifth.
Park Hill South 12, Truman 2
The Panthers broke the bats out in a 17-hit performance for a run-rule Suburban Conference Red Division home victory over the Patriots on Wednesday, Oct. 3 in Riverside, Mo.
The Panthers, trailing 1-0 in the second, received back-to-back two-run singles by Kate Kobayashi and Jessie Hagen in the second inning. They tacked on five in the second with two-run doubles by Kristen Clevenger and Cara Sparks and RBI singles by Kobayashi and Hagen. The Panthers added three more in the fifth with final-blow coming on a two-run pinch-hit double by Gretchen Roth giving the Panthers a 10-run lead for the run-rule victory. Grace Dielman (5 IP, 6 H, 2 R) kept the Patriots in-check from the circle.
Kobayshi (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Hagen (3-for-4, 3 RBI), Megan Keller (2-for-3, RBI) and Sparks (3-for-3, 2 RBI) paced the offense.

Lee’s Summit 2
The Panthers used a three-run first off Tigers’ starting pitcher Haley Kerley (7 IP, 7 H, 6 R) and remained ahead in the Suburban Conference Red win on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Chantice Phillips and Kristen Clevenger provided RBIs in the first and hurler Grace Dielman (7 IP, 8 H, 2 R) stymied the Tigers offense in a complete game win.
Kate Kobayashi, Jessie Hagen also drove in runs for the Panthers.
Ray-Pec 2, Park Hill 1
The Panthers used a two-run seventh and the winning run came on a steal of home in a Suburban Conference Gold victory on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Peculiar, Mo.
Trojans starting pitcher Kaylyn Jones (6.2 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 12 K) kept the Panthers off the board until the seventh. An RBI double tied the game in the bottom of the seventh before the winning run.
Kennedy Townsend doubled home Alexa Lashbrook, who singled, for the Trojans in the third inning.
Platte County 14, Grandview 0
The Pirates authored a combined one-hit shutout by pitchers Emma Koeneke (3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 K) and Chloe Helmer (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K) and plated 14 runs on 11 hits in their Suburban Conference Blue Division run-rule road win on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in Grandview, Mo.
The Pirates got RBIs from seven players — Halle Magee, Paige Rocha (2), Shayla Kohler (5), Grace Heater, Janessa Barmann, Taylor Farr and Madison Shields — helping them score 10 runs over the final two innings. The big-blow for the Pirates came in the fifth, when Kohler hit a grand slam off Bulldogs starting pitcher Juli Gutierrez, putting an exclamation point on the Pirates win.
District Tournament
Park Hill South is one of the top seeds in the upcoming Class 4 District 16 softball tournament, hosted in Riverside. Rain, however, has moved the first round games to Raytown South on Wednesday, Oct. 10. The tournament should resume in Riverside on Thursday, Oct. 11.
The Panthers are seeded No. 2 in the six-team field and earned a first-round bye. Park Hill South will play at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 against the winner of Park Hill and Oak Park, which plays at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The top seed is Staley and the Falcons will await the winner of Platte County and St. Joseph Central, which plays at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The championship game is slated for 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12.
