A woman accused of stealing about $2,500 worth of perfume from the Platte County Ulta Beauty store earlier this year is headed for a jury trial next year.
Misty Graham, 38, is charged with felony stealing in an incident that occurred in March. She is set to appear back in Platte County Circuit Court on Thursday, Jan. 3. Graham remains free on bond, but is also subject to house arrest through Johnson County, Kan.
According to court documents, Ulta staff contacted police due to a shoplifting incident. Surveillance video recorded two women — one later identified as Graham — entering the store with large black bags. The women visited the perfume section and selected 30 bottles of perfume. The two women shared a tool, using it to cut the security devices off the boxes before stuffing the boxes into the bags, their jackets and even their pants. Both women then left the store.
Leawood, Kan. police identified Graham from the video in relation to thefts in Johnson County. When arrested in April, she denied ever being in the Ulta store until she was shown the surveillance photos. Then, she said she was in the store, but had met the other women there and had not stolen anything.
