Two men shot after drug deal goes bad

Two people were injured in a shooting at an apartment complex near Zona Rosa on Thursday, Jan. 11 in Kansas City, Mo.

Kansas City Police Department spokesman Darin Snapp noted the shooting occurred around 8:12 p.m. at The Lakes Apartment at 7301 NW Donovan Dr.

Kansas City (Mo.) Police Department taped off part of The Lakes Apartment complex at 7301 NW Donovan Drive last Thursday following a shooting that injured two men in what the department is calling a drug deal gone bad.

Two men were shot ­— one in the leg and the other in the stomach — and were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of a drug deal gone awry Snapp said. One of the victims was in a white car that crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot after he was shot in the apartment complex a few hundred yards off of Interstate 29. The second victim was found a few hundred yards away from the crash.

Police have not located the suspected shooters and have asked those who may know anything to call TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477. The investigation is still active.
