Joining Green will be junior Grace Handke, who finished in 18th place with a score of 106. Other golfers competing in the tournament included senior Isabel Grell, who finished in 32nd place with a score of 126, and senior Macie Garland, who finished tied in 33rd place with a score of 127. As a team, the Pirates finished in seventh place. Junior Emma Mizell did not place in the tournament.

“We are so proud of the team and how they have grown this year,” Head Coach Trevor Short said after the tournament. “(Green and Handke) have worked really hard in the off season to prepare for this season and it has paid off with their accomplishments this year.”

Short also celebrated the accomplishments of Grell and Garland and the team’s other senior, Danika Stephenson.

The two ladies, along with Danika, did a great job while on our team and made lasting impressions on their teammates that will help them grow as golfers and people,” Short said. “We will miss them, but they have big plans moving into the future. All three ladies will make great additions to any organization they join.”

Next week’s Class 3 Tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

This will be the fourth trip to the state tournament for Green, who finished in the Top 10 last year with a sixth-place finish. Green finished 30th place in her sophomore year and 25th place in her freshman year.
