Casey blows away field

The entire Park Hill South ladies’ golf team is headed to the state tournament next week after winning the Class 4 District 4 Tournament on Friday, Oct. 11, at Paradise Point’s Posse Course in Smithville.

Senior Makenna Casey dominated the field in winning the one-day tournament with a score of 76 on the par 72 course. Casey finished six strokes ahead of her teammate, fellow senior Brynlee Justice, who shot a score of 84, which tied for runner-up.

Junior Brooke Nichols also qualified for the state tournament as an individual with a score of 98, which was good for 18th place. Junior Kylie Ziller finished 26th with a score of 104, and fellow junior Leah Steitz finished 36th with a score of 111.

All five golfers will compete in the two-day tournament that begins this Monday, Oct. 21, and will conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with a combined score from the two days. The Class 4 Tournament will be held at Dalhousie in Cape Girardeau.

The Park Hill ladies’ golf team finished seventh and two golfers, juniors Makenna Kincheloe and Ruby Bell, finished in the Top 10 to qualify for the Class 4 State Tournament at the Class 4 District 4 Tournament on Friday, Oct. 11, at Paradise Point’s Posse Course in Smithville.

Kincheloe shot a score of 84, which tied for runner-up, and Bell finished 10th with a score of 89. Junior Claire Conrad finished 41st with a score of 116, senior Evie Morton finished 55th with a score of 134, and junior Kyra Smail finished 56th with a score of 138.
