West Platte senior Emily VanNatta led the way for the Lady Blue Jays’ softball team throughout the fall, earning three postseason awards.
VanNatta impressed on the mound this season, posting an 8-5 record as she struck out 49 batters and posted a 1.733 ERA. VanNatta was a First Team All-District, Second Team All-Regional and All-Conference Honorable Mention pitcher.
Laura Hill was a First Team All-District and All-Conference selection, having a team-high 28 singles and 21 RBIs. Colby Shepardson and Madisyn Matlick both made the second team as infielders in the Class 2 District 7 Tournament.
Shepardson had 16 hits and nine RBIs in 20 games in the regular season and Matlick posted 17 hits – 15 of which were singles – and 13 RBIs on a .262 batting average before the duo impressed in West Platte’s only postseason game. Sophie Grier was also a Class 2 District 7 Second Team selection as an outfielder after having 29 hits, 19 singles and 19 RBIs in the regular season.
