Warrant issued for employee stealing 70-year old engagement ring

A warrant has been issued for arrest of maintenance worker accused of stealing from a retirement community in Platte County.

Brandon M. Rosema, 32, of Centerview, is facing felonies — stealing and burglary — once he is taken into custody. He has a $10,000 cash only bond and part of his bond condition will be not being able to enter the Wexford Place Retirement Community or have contact with the residents there.

The allegations against Rosema dates back to August 2017, where an engagement ring and other valuables were stolen from an apartment at the facility at 6500 N. Cosby Avenue in Kansas City.

The victim placed the ring in a jewelry box on Aug. 6 and noticed on Aug. 29 it was missing.

An investigation turned up similar instances of things missing and Rosema, a worker, was identified as a suspect. Court documents stated he has a history of pawning multiple pieces of jewelry.

Photos were taken of the merchandise at a pawn store and showed to the victim, who identified her ring, which was 70 years old and valued at $1,500.
