Platte County Commissioners met briefly early this month to approve an extended warranty for the county’s updated emergency radio system.
At the Monday, Feb. 3 regular administrative session, commissioners approved a change to the county’s contract with Motorola at a cost of approximately $134,000. According to director of administration Dana Babcock, the warranty extension will cover the Platte County Sheriff’s Office radio system. The system was first updated nearly 10 years ago due to a federal mandate and was upgraded in September 2019 at a cost of nearly $1.4 million.
The upgrade was financed through a continuation of the 2012 lease agreement made with Motorola. The original lease is slated for payoff in 2021 with the new agreement slated to be paid off in installments, with the bulk of payments made after the 2021 payoff.
Also at the meeting, the county issued a request for bids for hay and crop farming services in undeveloped parkland, including areas of Platte Ridge Park near Platte City and Benner Park near Weston.
Commissioners have rescheduled their next meeting to Tuesday, Jan. 18 due to the President’s Day holiday.
