The North Platte girls’ cross-country team finished in fourth place and West Platte sophomore Julia Pattison was the second runner to cross the finish line at the Kearney Invitational on Oct. 9.
Pattison continued to impress when the sophomore ended with a time of 19:49, which was 16 seconds behind the first-place St. Teresa Academy runner. The Blue Jay has only been beaten by nine total runners this fall, all of which are in a Class 4 or Class 5 school.
For North Platte, freshman Brianna Debord led the team with a 9th place finish with a time of 20.52. Jessa Cassity was the 19th girl to finish the race when the junior ended with a 21:35 time.
Shelby Lingle finished in 24th place with a time of 22:00 and Alaina Scroggins ended in 23:38. Lonee French finished in 68th place and Audrey Buckler ended with a time of 27:19 to lead the Panthers to a fourth place finish with 144 total points.
The second Blue Jay to finish was Kaitlyn Reinke who ran a career-best 24:22, as the sophomore was the 67th runner to finish the 5K. Lina Hennies, who is recovering from a hip injury, ran a PR as well when she ended with a time of 28:18.
Maggie Howard competed for just the second time this fall and the sophomore ended with a time of 29:10, followed by Addison Rinehart and Olivia Marquart. West Platte finished in 11th place as a team in the Kearney Invite.
The KCI Conference teams will face off against each other and the rest of the conference at Platte Ridge Park on Oct. 23. That will be the final regular season cross-country meet of the season before districts.
