For the first time since 2010, the West Platte football team defeated the Tigers at Plattsburg High School when the Blue Jays won 35-16 on Sept. 10.
Trent Taylor was all over the place for West Platte as he scored all four touchdowns. The Blue Jay ended with 110 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to go along with 86 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
The Blue Jays trailed the Tigers 8-7 early in the first half, but responded well and led Plattsburg 21-8 at the break. They were in control of the second half and Mason Montez completed seven of his nine pass attempts for 120 yards and a touchdown.
The West Platte defense held Plattsburg to only 149 yards of total offense. Dublin Carnahan led the team with eight tackles while Taylor and Cameron Williams added six each.
The Blue Jays have been suffocating opponents defensively so far this fall as they have only given up an average of 80 yards on the ground and 100 through the air. West Platte has outscored them 121-49 through the first three games as well.
After snapping the road-losing streak to Plattsburg, the Blue Jays are looking to take down the Cardinals for the first time since 2011 when they head to Lawson on Friday.
