The dominance for the West Platte boys cross country program continued to show during the KCI Conference championship held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Platte Ridge Park in Platte City.
Phillip Pattison ran 17:26 set a new personal record and in the process claimed the title for West Platte. He is the fifth different Bluejay to win the title and the sixth overall to win the league title in the past eight years.
He finished second last year.
The KCI race was just one of two on the day as it doubled as the 14th annual West Platte Invitational.
The win by Pattison in the West Platte Invitational makes him the fourth different Bluejay to take home that honor.
The West Platte boys were second overall behind Lawson in the KCI Conference race and were fourth overall in the West Platte Invitational portion race out of 16 teams.
Ryan Pattison was sixth overall in the KCI Conference race and 17th overall, setting a new personal record by 35 seconds.
Charlie Kinslow took 10th in the KCI race and earned all-conference honors for West Platte. The freshman was 23rd overall in the West Platte race.
The Bluejays had only one all-conference runner on the girls side.
West Platte’s Lexi Elmore was eighth in the KCI race with a time of 23:04 to make the top-10 cut to earn the accolades. She was 20th overall in the race.
Katie Groom cut more than a minute of her best time but took 12th in the KCI race, just missing all-conference status. Sophia Rush returned after missing several races for West Platte and was 34th overall and 14th in the KCI race.
North Platte took second in the girls standings with 50 points, coming in behind Lawson’s 21 points. West Platte was third with 60.
The Panthers had a trio of earned all-conference honors, one less than Lawson.
Recent Central Methodist signee Savannah Lingle was fourth, while Madison O’Neill took ninth and Jessa Cassity placed 10th to earn the final all-conference bid.
In the West Platte race the places were 10th, 22nd and 24th, respectively.
East Buchanan freshman Laynie Davidson won the West Platte and KCI race to match Phillip Pattison’s double-double.
The North Platte boys were third overall with 80 points, coming in behind Lawson (23) and West Platte (53).
Freshman Josh Schaffart took 12th in the KCI race and 29th overall for North Platte.
The Panthers were eighth overall in the West Platte portion of the race.

The three larger school, Platte County, Park Hill and Park Hill South, will run at the Class 4 District 8 race on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Jesse James Park in Kearney.
The day will start with the boys race at 10 a.m. and the girls race will follow at 10:35 a.m. There will be a $5 charge for admission.
The top four teams and the top 30 runners advance to the sectional round on Nov. 2 at the Wildflower Cross Country Course near Liberty North High School.
