Park Hill South held Grandview Christian to only 14 points in the middle two quarters to pick up a 63-45 victory on Monday, Jan. 21 in the North Kansas City Invitational.
South scored 24 points in the first quarter and led 37-21 at halftime and the lead was 22 going into the fourth.
Dylan Brougham had 14, including an alley-oop dunk. Jake Powers had 13 and Jonathan Thompson scored 10 for the Panthers, which plays Ray-Pec at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The third-place (5 p.m.)and championship game (6:30 p.m.) will be on Friday against either Truman or North Kansas City.
Oak Park girls 51, Park Hill South 36
Park Hill South lost the opening game of the Oak Park Invitational on Monday, Jan. 21 against the host Lady Oakies.
Behind 33 points from Paige Allen, Oak Park advanced to the semifinals. She also hit the 2,000-point mark in her career in the contest.
The Panthers led 13-12 after the opening quarter — getting five points from Makailee McGhee — but trailed 29-18 at halftime. Allen scored 16 of her team’s 22 points in the second half to seal the victory.
McGhee, a sophomore, led the Panthers with 10 points.
Park Hill South plays either Ruskin or Winnetonka at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Staley boys 55, Park Hill South 44
The No. 10-ranked Falcons picked up a divisional win against the Panthers on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Staley High School.
The Panthers led early, 26-21 at halftime, but lost the lead in the third as the Falcons hit three 3-pointers. In the fourth, Staley added four more 3s. Kyan Evans hit seven in the game and tallied 25 points. Byron Alexander hit three and scored 16.
Josh Prososki scored 20 for the Panthers and hit four 3-pointers. The senior scored all seven points in the third quarter for Park Hill South. Dylan Brougham added 11 points.
Ray-Pec boys 75, Park Hill 43
The Panthers scored 22 points in first and third quarters and rolled to a victory on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Park Hill High School.
The first quarter was fairly competitive, with the Panthers leading 22-17 after the first 8 minutes. The two combined for six 3-pointers, three by Ray-Pec’s Jordan Jermain.
Ray-Pec led 39-27 at halftime and then outscored Park Hill, 22-6, in the third to seal the win. Jermain scored seven of his game-high 25 in the third quarter.
Anthony Hall scored 11, while Nyk Bryant chipped in with 10 for Park Hill.
