Bell Brothers, Crosby end at top of Silver Division

Park Hill senior Kendrick Bell was the second highest scorer for the Trojans and third highest scorer in the Kansas City Suburban Conference Silver Division this season.

The Park Hill and Park Hill South boys filled out the roster in the Kansas City Suburban Conference Silver Division team after this season ended.

Park Hill senior brothers Marqueas and Kendrick Bell, along with Park Hill South senior Cahmai Crosby, made up half of the first team selections as they were the three highest scorers in the conference. The Trojans and Panthers combined for nine of the 23 players who earned such awards.

Marqueas Bell scored 539 total points – good for 20.73 points per game – while shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 75.8 percent from the charity stripe and 28 percent from the field. He scored a career-high 45 points against Liberty back on Jan. 3.

Kendrick Bell was the third highest scorer in the conference, making the Trojans’ offense even scarier, as the senior scored 14 points, grabbed 5.85 rebounds and forced 1.41 steals per game. He knocked down 35 triples on the season on a 43.9 percent rate, which was the highest rate for any Park Hill player.

Marqueas Bell was the highest scorer in the conference as he averaged 20.73 points in his senior campaign.

Crosby was number two on the Silver Division scoring list, pouring out 426 points and surpassing 1,000 career points on the year as he was a 3-year starter at Park Hill South. The Panther was an efficient scorer, converting on 48 percent of his shot attempts and scored in double figures in every single game to average 17.04 points, 5.96 rebounds and 1.4 steals.

Park Hill South junior point guard Colby Kiedrowski made the second team as he was the team’s second highest scorer, having 8.6 points per game. Park Hill junior Gavin Schaag was on the second team as well, pouring out 48 shots from deep – which was more than any other Silver Division player – to score 9.96 points per game and shot 86 percent from the free throw line.

Park Hill South had three Silver Division Honorable Mentions in Brayden Parra, Mike Collins and Jaylen Lockhart. Parra was third in the conference in total 3-pointers, knocking down 45 on an impressive 46.4 percent.

Park Hill South senior Cahmai Crobsy was on the Silver Division First Team after scoring 17.04 points per game in his third year starting.

Collins scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds along with forcing one steal per game. Lockhart will be back next season after finishing his junior campaign with averages of 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Ty Schreck wrapped up his Park Hill career with a Silver Division Honorable Mention selection. He led the team in assists with 77 total while making 21 shots from behind the arc and averaging 5.4 points per game.

For the girls, there was no second team, just an all-conference team of 12 and three honorable mentions as four of the five starters for Park Hill South were named to the Silver Division Team. Freshman phenom Addison Bjorn was also the Silver Division Player of the Year after she had 18.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, four assists and two steals while also breaking the Park Hill South single game record for points and field goals made when she scored 32 points and made 13 shots against West Plains on Jan. 20.

Freshman Addison Bjorn was the Silver Division Player of the Year.

Juniors Regan Williams and Avery Simmons, along with freshman Ava Miles, were all on the all-conference team as well. The four Lady Panthers led the squad to the Class 6 Quarterfinals and won 26 games this season on 30 tries, averaging 60.1 points per game and only allowed 40.7 points to their opponents.

The freshman duo made up nearly 50 percent of the team’s points as Bjorn is already past halfway to 1,000 points as she posted 552 total, which was 85 more points than anyone else in the conference. Miles made the fourth most 3-pointers in the Silver Division – making 42 – when the freshman scored 11.9 points per game, along with 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals.

Boston Wand was a Silver Division Honorable Mention after scoring 8.1 points and grabbing 6.9 rebounds a game.

Williams and Simmons were the top two Park Hill South scorers last year when they were sophomores but played unselfish this year and took less shots. They both averaged right under 11 points per game as Williams led the team with 6.9 rebounds – while tying Miles’ average of 2.2 steals per game – and Simmons led the team in outside shooting and free throw percentages when she made 19 triples and 65 shots from the charity stripe.

The Park Hill girls also had a pair of players earn all-conference honors. McKenna Sonsa made the first team and Boston Wand was an honorable mention.

Sonsa led the Lady Trojans in every statistical category other than rebounds and blocks when she averaged 8.7 points, dished out 2.4 assists and forced 1.3 steals. Wand ended her sophomore season with averages of 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and one block.
