The Trojan football team has reached the halfway point of the fall season and Park Hill is sitting at a 4-1 record, including four straight victories.
The latest victim to fall to the Trojans was Lee’s Summit on Friday, Sept. 24. Park Hill led by as much as 20 points in the second half and won 30-22.
Since taking over as the Trojan starting quarterback for the first time in his career this fall, Kedrick Bell continues to impress. The junior completed 28 of his 37 pass attempts for 410 yards and 3 passing touchdowns.
Bell found the end zone three times in the first half – twice through the air and once for a 2-yard rushing touchdown. The junior connected with P.J. Caldwell and Jake Powell for a pair of scores in the opening 24 minutes of action.
After leading 20-7 at the break, Bell connected with Max Filion for a 99-yard bomb to start off the second half. With 8:00 remaining in the third quarter, the touchdown gave Park Hill a 27-7 lead.
Lee’s Summit scored two touchdowns to make a late comeback attempt, but the Trojans held on to secure the win. Trojan junior Scotty Robertson added a 20-yard field goal to give Park Hill 30 points in the contest.
Caldwell ended with 13 receptions for 184 yards and a touchdown, while Filion caught the ball three times for 100 yards and a score. Powell’s six receptions on the night gave him 81 receiving yards to go with his receiving touchdown and Marqueas Bell added five catches for 44 yards.
Park Hill (4-1) currently has the second best record in Class 6 District 4, only trailing undefeated Park Hill South (5-0). The Trojans will play district opponents in each of the next two weeks starting with Liberty North (3-1) on Oct. 1, and then will host Liberty (3-2) on Oct. 8.
