Panthers continue to dominate

After giving up an early touchdown, the Park Hill South football team scored 31 unanswered points to keep its perfect season alive when the Panthers defeated Oak Park 31-7 on Friday, Sept. 24.

The Northmen’s 7-0 lead was short-lived as Briggs Bartosh returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards to the house. After a tied ball game through the first quarter of action, Bartosh showed off his strong arm and threw his first touchdown pass of the fall.

The junior connected with Mudia Reuben for a 38-yard score and Mason Love converted on a 34-yard field goal later in the second quarter to give Park Hill South a 17-7 halftime lead. Lucas Oitker scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second half to help the Panthers cruise to a 24 point victory and a 5-0 start to the 2021 fall season.

Oitker ran all over the Oak Park defense when the senior finished the night with 121 rushing yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Darrien Jones added 74 yards on 15 attempts on the ground, while Bartosh ended with 56 rushing yards on seven attempts.

Defensively, James Williams impressed for the Panthers as the senior ended with five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. Roger Guillory led the team with 11 tackles and Jordon Hilsinger recorded one sack on the night. Park Hill South will host Staley this Friday, Oct. 1.
