Trojans win Smithville Invitational

After starting out with a .500 record on the 2021 season, the Park Hill boys’ soccer team won the Smithville Soccer Invitational that took place from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24.

The Trojans kicked off the tournament with a matchup against Harrisonville. Park Hill won the contest 3-1 to move on to the semifinals versus Staley.

In the opening contest, Daniel Lynn, Caden Duarte and Kaden Keller scored the goals for Park Hill. The game against Staley was a different story as it was a defensive battle.

Both teams were unable to score a goal and the game ended with a 0-0 tie. However, Park Hill moved on and had the opportunity to play for the championship when the Trojans took on Smithville.

The Warriors put up a fight, but were unable to defeat the Trojans and Park Hill became tournament champions. Daniel Lynn and Braedon Nichols both scored the goals to lead the team to a 2-1 victory.

The three games in three days brought Park Hill’s season record to 5-3-1. The Trojans’ next contest will be on Sept. 29 when they head to Lee’s Summit West High School.
