The North Platte Panthers dropped to 1-6 on the year with a 41-21 loss to Mid-Buchanan in the final home game of the year, and West Platte lost 27-0 on the road at East Buchanan on Friday night, Oct. 11.
The Blue Jays travel to Lathrop this week to take on Mules, who are 1-6 on the season. North Platte will travel to Lawson, who is 2-5 on the year. One of Lawson’s wins is over West Platte 34-15 in Week 6. North Platte’s only win on the year is over Lathrop in Week 3, 26-20.
Both teams will meet in the final regular season game in Week 9 for the annual Tobacco Stick Trophy. West Platte will host the contest. The Panthers have won six of the previous 10 regular season matchups, including a 44-0 drubbing last year. The Jays and Panthers have met up one time in the postseason in the last 10 years, with West Platte getting a 38-26 win in 2015.
Both teams are in Class 1 District 4, and the Jays are currently ranked sixth out of nine teams in the district, with the Panthers right behind them in seventh.
