Forrester's late heroics lead Pirates to victory

Following 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, Calvin Forrester connected with an overtime goal to lead the Platte County boy’s soccer team its fifth consecutive win to start the season.

The Pirates were taking on Kearney and the goal gave them a 1-0 victory on Sept. 16. Forrester scored the game-winning goal 36 seconds into the overtime period.

“He took a few players on and managed to get a great shot off that was low and to the right of the keeper,” Platte County head coach Ashlyn Brantley said.

The Pirates had 10 shots on goal throughout the night before finally scoring in extra minutes. Patrick Sullivan was the goal keeper who came through with the shut out.

“We did a great job of controlling the game, especially in the second half. Our possession game is strong, now we just need to finish all of our chances,” Brantely said.

Coach Brantley told the Platte County Citizen that the Pireates want to continue focusing on finishing the opportunities we create. The Pirates will be on the road on Sept. 23 at Ruskin for their next contest.
