The Park Hill South girls’ soccer team (5-1) continues to impress early in the spring season as the Lady Panthers only allowed one or less goals in each of their first four victories of the spring.
Park Hill South had a pair of 3-1 wins at home against Nixa (2-3) and Kickapoo (8-3) on April 1 and April 2. The Lady Panthers started the win against the Lady Eagles with a 1-0 lead at the break when Keegan Good converted on a goal off a pass from Lilly Reuscher in the 25th minute.
In the second half, Olivia Clemons found Mackenzie Wright for another score at 52’ to put the Lady Panthers up 2-0. Less than six minutes later, Nixa answered with a goal, but Park Hill South sealed the game with another score from Good in the 61st minute.
The box score looked pretty similar in Park Hill South’s next game as the Lady Panthers went up 1-0 at halftime and outscored their opponent 2-1 in the final 45 minutes. Good found the back of the net for the fourth time this season at 40’ off a pass from Kate Hermelink in the closing minutes of the opening half.
Kickapoo tied the contest in the 50th minute, but the Hermelink and Clemons closed out the game. The Lady Panther duo each scored and assisted on the final two goals of the night, in the 69th and 70th minutes, to defeat the Lady Chiefs.
Grain Valley (2-2-1) was the first team to surpass one goal and fall to Park Hill South when the Lady Panthers won 5-2 on April 4. Both of the Lady Eagles goals came in the second half after Park Hill South was leading by five goals, four of which occurred before the break.
Suzi Schulze and Clemons both scored in the opening minute of the contest, followed by Wright at 7’ off a pass from Reuscher. The Lady Panthers increased the margin in the 34th minute when Lily DiBernardo connected with a goal that Good assisted on to lead 4-0 at halftime.
Wright scored her second goal of the day in the first minutes of the second half off an assist from Abby Harrison. The Lady Panthers will host St. Theresa Academy (4-1) on April 6 and Liberty (4-2) on April 9.
