Lady Trojans win their home opener against Liberty North

The Park Hill girls’ tennis team started the season off with a home win against Liberty North on August 31.

Park Hill’s Sydney Roberson and Elizabeth Ericksen lost their doubles match against Liberty North 8-5 on Aug. 31.

The Lady Trojans started the match off with a 2-1 lead following the doubles matches when Sydney Roberson and Elizabeth Ericksen lost 5-8 and the other doubles teams won. Audrey Lynn and Avery Whalen came out on top by a score of 8-7, while Katie Miller and Ciara Miller had a shutout.

Ericksen also didn’t allow a point in her singles match, while Miller, Roberson and Skyler Scamman all won their singles matches by a score of 8-5. Lynn and Whalen fell short in their singles matches by scores of 8-6 and 8-2, respectively.

Park Hill opened the season in the Novice Tournament at Blue Springs South on August 24 and finished as the runner-up. The Lady Trojans lost to Kickapoo 5-4 but had to forfeit multiple courts and move players up due to rain.

Park Hill also had a cheerleader and drum major who had to get back for the football game that Friday night. The Lady Trojans will be in a tournament against Staley on September 10.
