The Panthers’ 18th victory of the fall season has given the North Platte softball team its most wins since the 2015 season.
The Panthers only had a combined 16 wins in their last three seasons and ended the 2021 regular season with an 18-8 record. North Platte hasn’t won a postseason contest since defeating Lawson 3-1 in the opening round of districts in 2017, but the Panthers have put themselves in a position to make that change.
North Platte is the number three seed in the Class 2 District 7 Tournament, behind top-seeded Mid-Buchanan (16-6) and number two-seeded Lathrop (13-3). The Panthers first game of the tournament is against Plattsburg (4-17), which North Platte defeated 13-3 in the regular season.
The Panthers’ have begun to turn the program around with the impressive season, ending conference play with a 4-3 KCI Conference record. The Class 2 District 7 Tournament is at Plattsburg High School and begins on Oct. 13.
