North Platte ends regular season with most wins since 2015

The Panthers’ 18th victory of the fall season has given the North Platte softball team its most wins since the 2015 season.

The Panthers only had a combined 16 wins in their last three seasons and ended the 2021 regular season with an 18-8 record. North Platte hasn’t won a postseason contest since defeating Lawson 3-1 in the opening round of districts in 2017, but the Panthers have put themselves in a position to make that change.

North Platte is the number three seed in the Class 2 District 7 Tournament, behind top-seeded Mid-Buchanan (16-6) and number two-seeded Lathrop (13-3). The Panthers first game of the tournament is against Plattsburg (4-17), which North Platte defeated 13-3 in the regular season.

The Panthers’ have begun to turn the program around with the impressive season, ending conference play with a 4-3 KCI Conference record. The Class 2 District 7 Tournament is at Plattsburg High School and begins on Oct. 13.
