North Platte picked up a pair of wins on Monday, Sept. 17 in a triangular at South Holt High School in Oregon, Mo.
The Panthers beat South Holt and Mound City in straight sets to improve to 8-6 on the season and in the process surpassed the combined win totals (6) of the past two seasons.
North Platte beat South Holt 25-13 in both matches, after needing three sets to beat the Knights earli-er this year in Dearborn. McKenzie Brockhoff had nine kills, while Maddy Cheadle paced North Platte in assists (10) and digs (4), sharing that honor with Frankie Davis. Brianna Bridger and Emily Westwood had one block each.
Facing Mound City, North Platte won 25-15 in each. Brockhoff had 15 kills and nine assists. Cheadle and Westwood had four digs each, while Westwood had the lone block.
West Platte 2, East Buchanan 1
In a close battle, the Bluejays picked up a 25-23 in the third set to earn a victory in KCI Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 13 in Gower, Mo.
West Platte won the opening set, 25-18, while the Bulldogs won the second, 25-23.
Samantha Rotterman had 12 kills, while Lara Lieske had 11 for West Platte. Zoe Buckler provided 18 assists. Tori Norman accounted for four of the team’s five aces, while leading the team with two blocks. Stevens had 10 digs and nine assists.
Lathrop 2, North Platte 1
After winning the first set, the Panthers lost the next two on Thursday, Sept. 13 in a KCI Conference match in Lathrop, Mo.
The Panthers opened with a 25-21 win in the first set against the Mules, but were unable to close out the victory in the second set. The Mules and Panthers went to the limit in the second set, but the Mules emerged victorious, 27-25.
In the third and final set, both teams continued to battle. However, the Mules were able to outlast the Panthers for a 31-29 third set win. The Panthers fell to 6-6 on the season with the loss.
McKenzie Brockoff (11) and Frankie Davis (7) led the Panthers in kills and Maddy Cheadle contributed 15 assists. Davis (11), Cheadle (10) and Brianna Bridger (10) paced the Panthers in digs and Emily Westwood had a pair of blocks.
Lone Jack 2, North Platte 0
The Panthers fell in straight sets on the road against the Mules on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Lone Jack High School.
The Mules seized the first set with a 25-17 victory and grabbed the second set in a tighter match, 25-22.
The Panthers were led offensively by McKenzie Brockoff and Frankie Davis’ eight kills and Maddy Cheadle’s nine assists. Defensively, Brianna Bridger and Brockoff collected a block and Kelsey Reynolds had a pair of digs.
