With the 2021 volleyball season coming to an end, five West Platte volleyball players and one North Platte volleyball player were given postseason honors.
The Blue Jays’ top-performer of 2021 was Libby Vandel, who was a unanimous 1st team selection in the KCI Conference and a 1st team selection in the Class 2 District 15 Tournament. The junior finished the season with 228 kills, 37 aces, 34 blocks and 96 digs.
Junior Ahlanna Rutherford was chosen on the 1st team in West Platte’s conference and 2nd team in West Platte’s district. Rutherford ended the fall with 158 kills, 69 aces, 5 blocks and 300 digs.
Blue Jay freshman Arianna Nower and sophomore Maddie McMillan were both 2nd team all-district and 2nd all-conference. Nower finished her freshman campaign with 130 kills, 80 aces, 12 blocks and 430 assists, while McMillan ended the season with 162 kills, 32 aces and 254 digs.
West Platte sole senior Katie Groom was a KCI Conference Honorable Mention. Groom ended her Blue Jays’ volleyball career with 118 kills, 19 aces, 15 blocks and 257 assists in her final season.
North Platte senior libero Trinity Whitford was the only Panther to be selected with postseason honors. She was selected 2nd all-district team in the Class 1 District 15 Tournament and as a KCI Conference Honorable Mention.
Whitford played in 23 matches for a total of 60 sets with a 91.8% serve percentage on 171 attempts and a 1.63 serve receive rating. In Whitford’s senior season, she ended with 22 aces, 426 serve receptions, 14 kills, 15 assists and 250 digs.
