The Park Hill and Park Hill South boys’ soccer teams both had impressive fall seasons and have multiple players awarded with postseason awards.
Park Hill (15-9-1) won the Class 4 District 8 Tournament and had eight players selected to the all-district team. The Trojans also had five players selected to the all-conference teams in the Kansas City Suburban Gold Division.
Making the first team in districts were junior James Betz and the senior trio of Kaden Keller, Grant Barry and Kyle Wilkie. Park Hill’s goalkeeper Wilkie only allowed one goal in the entire Class 4 District 8 Tournament and the senior also was a Gold Division Honorable Mention when he had eight regular season shutouts.
Junior Daniel Lynn, sophomore Caden Duarte, sophomore Daiggen Gaar and senior Alland Hassas all made the second team in the district tournament. Lynn was also selected to the second team all-conference in the regular season.
Making an honorable mention in the Class 4 District 8 Tournament was sophomore Tanner Poirier, sophomore Bradeon Nichols, freshman Ethan Howell and junior Scotty Robertson.
On the first team in the Kansas City Suburban Gold Division Conference was Betz as a forward and Keller as a defender. Grant Barry and Lynn made the second team, while Wilkie and midfielder Caden Duarte were Gold Division Honorable Mentions.
Park Hill South (11-9) had three Suburban Kansas City Gold Division first team selections, starting with senior center back Carson Simmons, who contributed to four conference shutouts. Center midfielder Max Vandeginste had six goals and one assist in his senior campaign to earn a selection on the first team all-conference and first team all-district.
Junior T.J. Rouse had three goals and three assists to be the third Park Hill South player on the first team. Panther senior goalkeeper Spencer Reese and senior outside back Lucas Crane were both second team selections as Crane ended his senior campaign with one goal and four assists.
Five Panthers were Red Division Honorable Mention, led by sole senior Grant English who was also an honorable mention on the all-district team. The center midfielder had three goals and two assists this fall.
The last four honorable mentions for Park Hill South were all sophomores: Lucas Smith, Quinlan McNellis, Devin Crane and Isaiah Mesa. McNellis led the Panthers with six goals, along with three assists, and Crane added two goals and two assists in 2021. Smith also made the all-district second team.
