In the Park Hill School District, Jay Niceswanger, principal at Prairie Point Elementary School, announced his June 30 retirement, which will go to the board of education for acceptance at its Thursday, Feb. 27 meeting.
Niceswanger’s education year spans 28 years, and he spent 10 of those years in Park Hill. He started his education career in 1992 as a teacher in Warrensburg, Mo., and then worked as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in Liberty Public Schools before his hire as principal at Prairie Point in 2010.
Niceswanger received the Clay-Platte Missouri Distinguished Principal award from the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals and received an Excellence in Service to Education award from the Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Under his leadership, Prairie Point received the National PTA Schools of Excellence award.
