A Parkville teen has found himself in serious trouble for shooting photos and videos up the skirts of fellow students at Park Hill South High School.
Jared Scott, 17, is facing six counts of misdemeanor invasion of privacy for taking unauthorized images of six girls at the school. Charges were filed Tuesday, March 19 and a criminal summons issued. Scott is scheduled to appear Tuesday, April 16 before judge Dennis Eckold.
According to court documents, two victims at Park Hill South reported suspicious activity to the administration on Wednesday, March 13. The girls said a student later identified as Scott was filming up the shorts of one of the girls in the high school snack room. One victim said she saw him do it to the other and believed he had done the same to her in the fall semester.
Upon review of surveillance video, the administration was able to identify a third possible victim and asked Scott about his actions.
Scott said he had bent down to get a better view of the girls’ rears, but denied taking pictures. He said if caught he planned to tell victims he was getting a rock out of his shoe. He admitted he’d been using this ruse for about a year and admitted to a fourth victim. He denied using his phone for nefarious purposes.
Administrators notified the school resource officer, who searched Scott’s phone for evidence. The phone had an app installed allowing photos and video to be recorded while the screen was inactive. During the search, the officer found many images of girls in shorts, skirts and dresses, many showing their underwear and skin. There were also many photos of Scott’s failures when he’d attempted to take photos and missed.
While the faces of most victims could not be seen, two additional girls were identified. These victims said they believed the photos were taken during the fall semester.
After the photos were located, Scott refused to speak with law enforcement without an attorney present.
