Park Hill, West Platte wrestlers win titles at Excelsior Springs Tournament

Park Hill and West Platte took part in the Excelsior Springs Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The Trojans got a championship from Cierra Miller in the 142-pound class. Miller pinned Chillicothe’s Addison Lewis in 45 seconds and secured her title with a pin over Bristol Robertson of Plattsburg in 1:59.

Madison Germany (166) was a runner-up for the Trojans. She went 3-1 on the day with her one setback coming against Cadence Chenoweth of Benton. Germany got pins against Sierra Stodden of Excelsior Springs (2:41) and Jae Bryant of Liberty North (2:39), while getting an 8-7 win against Jaden Craig of Kearney.

Eve Herlyn (130) took third for Park Hill, going 1-2.

West Platte had two third and a champion in Selina Friedid, who went 3-0 in the 115 class.

She pinned all three of her foes: Lexi Peterson of Benton in 2:17; Elizabeth Baker of Richmond (19 seconds) and Laney Cecil of Kearney (1:52).

Avery Rothwell (125) and Kristen Crockett (142) each took third for the Bluejays.

Park Hill 9, Blue Springs 0

The Trojans won the only two matches of the night on Thursday, Dec. 19. 

Eve Herlyn got a 7-2 decision against Mady Banker (125) and Cierra Miller (142) pinned Rhian Kempf.

Park Hill South 12, Platte County 0

The Panthers got wins from Finley Bickford (142) and Samantha Medina (152) against Platte County on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Mid-Buchanan 35, St. Joseph Central 3

Staley 48, Mid-Buchanan 18

The four Dragons wrestlers from North Platte all got at least one win during a double dual on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Staley High School in Kansas City North.

Loren Patee (113), Ariana Hartigan (113), Haley Sampson (115) and Brooklyn Dunn (166) all got wins against Central. 

Facing Staley, Patee and Sampson secured wins for the Dragons.

Ray-Pec 48, Platte County 3

The Panthers won two of the three matches but took advantage of six forfeits to roll to a win on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The lone win for the Pirates came with Sarina Bertram (166) got a 2-1 decision against Samantha Archer.
