The Platte County School District issued a release on Sunday, Dec. 22, stating that Platte County Middle School seventh-grader Brett Hollandsworth died from a seizure on Saturday, Dec. 21.

The district announced they mobilized community resources — district counselors and social workers — for students in the aftermath and will make them available as well when students return from Christmas break.

Services were held for the 13-year-old on Friday, Dec. 27 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City.

He was a member of the middle school band.

Hollandsworth was the son of Brian Hollandsworth of Agency and Sheree Kruske of Platte City.
